I thought it would be fun to introduce you to a new stone I discovered in Jaipur.
I found MANY beautiful new stones when I was in Jaipur – but since Valentine's Day is around the corner and we are thinking about all things “PINK” and "RED" I thought I’d start off with Thulite.
Thulite is often referred to as pink zoisite, and was first discovered in Norway in 1820. It is named after the mythical island of Thule. For you all that have some Scandinavian blood, which is most of us thanks to the ever adventurous Vikings, Thule is an island seen on the Carta marina of 1539, where it is shown located to the northwest of the Orkney islands!
How did I find Thulite? Each year I try to attend some of the countries largest gem and mineral shows. Luckily there is a great one each September here in Denver. At the show last year I met someone who had the most amazing stones. When I told him I was going to be in Jaipur he put me in contact with his cousin, Dewakeer, who lives and works there.
While in Jaipur I was honored to be allowed to see the inner workings of a family business that has been in existence for generations. It was thrilling to have an expert help guide me and introduce me to new stones and now I have a new source for some of my favorites, like Turquoise, Larimar, Opal, Moonstone, and more!
I hand-picked several stunning Thulite stones while I was at Dewakeer's shop in Jaipur this January. They were set while I was there by his expert team of stone cutters and setters. I've put them on some new bold chains I’ve sourced to compliment these stunners. Check them out!

I can’t wait to share more exciting finds and creations from my trip over the next few months as I work on making them into one-of-a-kind pendants, necklaces and earrings! Maybe even a bracelet or two!
